Ninety-one per cent of first-year students said they were satisfied with choosing Carleton, according to a survey conducted by the Canadian University Survey Consortium (CUSC).

Just over 900 first-year students completed the survey.

The survey is presented to universities across Canada every three years and is used to show universities how they are doing internally, but does not compare them to other universities.

“These positive results are very encouraging, given that Carleton has experienced a 20 per cent increase in enrolment since the fall of 2006,” said Suzanne Blanchard, associate vice-president (students and enrolment) and university registrar, in a news release.

In addition to the 91 per cent overall satisfaction, the survey also revealed that 60 per cent of students chose Carleton because of programs tailored to specific careers. Sixty-one per cent chose the school because of the quality of the academic programs.

“I definitely think that Carleton was the right choice for me,” said Melissa Rumble, a first-year journalism student. “It was my top choice from the start and remained my top choice through the selection process. I have absolutely no regrets,” she said.
