Name: Erica Butler
Program/year:
Second-year women’s and gender studies and human rights
Position running for:
FASS councillor
Why are you running for CUSA council?

I’m running for CUSA council because as both a student and service centre co-ordinator I’ve seen the importance of council in shaping policies that directly impact students. As someone who values diversity on our campus. I want to ensure CUSA’s commitment to equity is upheld.
What do you think makes you a good candidate?
I’m a good candidate because I have a demonstrated dedication to bettering Carleton. My experience as a service centre co-ordinator has allowed me to grow community and talk to students directly about the issues affecting them. I’m both passionate and hard working.
What are two things you hope to achieve if elected?

1. A major priority for me is ensuring that CUSA committees reflect the many different identities of Carleton students. Committees are crucial in determining funding allocation and the development of policy, and I believe they need to be given more scrutiny.
2. I would also like to push for a greater focus on mental health and related resources for students.
What’s one fun fact about yourself?

I have an extreme love for unicorns. My office has vinyl, ceramic, drawn, and stained glass unicorns in it!
