
Bright and blossoming tulips overtook Dow’s Lake for the annual Canadian Tulip Festival, which returned to Ottawa between May 9 and May 19.
On a sunny and warm springtime afternoon, tourists and locals swarmed the grounds for selfies and photos of the 10,000 flowers as floral scents mingled with the smells from local food vendors.
This year marks 80 years of Netherlands liberation and Ottawa’s 73rd tulip festival, commemorating the Netherlands’ shipment of 100,000 tulips to the capital to thank Canadians for their assistance during the Second World War.
