George Romero’s 2010 Years Later: The Second Coming, about Jesus Christ’s resurrection as a zombie, broke box-office records this past Easter weekend.
The movie captivates audiences from the opening scene, in which zombie Jesus, played by Bill Murray, rose from the dead in Jerusalem and ran through the Holy City feasting on its inhabitants.
The scenes in the movie are so vivid that they will resonate in viewers' minds for a long time. For example, the shot in which zombie Jesus and the 12 apostles are eating their “last supper” makes Leonardo Da Vinci look amateur.
The United Nations is also praising Romero, and he has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, because the zombie outbreak promotes peace when the conflict in the Middle East ends because
Hamas and the Israeli Defence Force unite to combat the undead.
The Pope has even endorsed Romero because, although he does not believe in zombies, he says that if Jesus was a zombie he would bring peace to the world like he did in the film.
Not everyone, however, is pleased with the content of Romero’s new film.
What some are calling “the biggest riots since Vietnam” broke out in the United States as result of right-wing Christian groups protesting Romero for portraying people who follow Jesus as brainless zombies.
Romero says this was not his intention, and anyone who believes it was, is brainless.
Twilightfans are also criticizing Romero for his film.
“Zombie Jesus definitely didn’t sparkle enough,” said Patricia Smith of Ottawa.
“I was hoping that zombie Jesus would fall in love with a girl, want to eat her brains, but then not do it because he loved her,” chimed in Smith’s friend Jennifer Jones.
“That would have been so romantic,” they gushed.
The fact that Twilight fans hate this movie so much scientifically proves that Romero has done a quality job, says Harvard University chemistry professor George Stone.
Overall, this has been one of Romero’s best zombie movies yet and people who don’t see it deserve to have their brains eaten.
