Natasha Smith: Rugby
In her final season with the Carleton Ravens rugby team, captain Natasha Smith led her team in overall points.
Smith finished the season with 70 points, tied for third in the overall Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) standings.
Smith was recognized for her efforts at Carleton’s annual athletic banquet, where she won the team’s most valuable player award, and was named overall female athlete of the year.
Thomas Scrubb: Men’s basketball
The Carleton Ravens men’s basketball team capped off an incredible season with its 11th Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) title in 13 years, a fitting end to forward Thomas Scrubb’s days as a Raven.
During the regular season, Scrubb led the team in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. He also contributed for an average of 7.6 rebounds per game.
As a result of his efforts during the season, Scrubb was also named the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and CIS defensive player of the year.
Lindsay Shotbolt: Women’s basketball
Despite having her season cut short by an injury, women’s basketball forward Lindsay Shotbolt made the most of the games she was able to play.
Although Shotbolt missed out on almost half the season, she still led the team in points and rebounds, averaging 11.6 points and nine rebounds per game during the year.
Shotbolt was also named the team’s MVP at Carleton’s annual athletic banquet in 2015.
Adrianna Ruggiero: Women’s soccer
In her fourth year with the Ravens, forward Adrianna Ruggiero played a key role in leading her team to a fifth-place finish in the OUA East.
As this year’s leading scorer for the Ravens, Ruggiero recorded six goals in the 2014-15 season.
In the 2013-14 season, Ruggiero also received OUA all-star honours.
Geoffrey Devaney: Men’s fencing
Men’s fencer Geoffrey Devaney had a great season with the Ravens, ending it off with the addition of a sixth OUA championship banner to the program’s history.
At this year’s OUA championships, Devaney was a part of the men’s foil team that took home the gold medal, as well as winning an individual gold medal in foil.
As a result of his success during the season, Devaney was named team MVP at the 2015 athletic banquet.
Nate Behar: Football
Nate Behar was the Ravens’ top receiver in 2014.
His statistics speak for themselves, racking up 48 receptions a game, as well as seven touchdowns in his sophomore season.
Behar also won the MVP award for football at the Carleton athletic banquet.
Michael Calof: Men’s soccer
Calof is the top defender for the men’s soccer team. He was named to the OUA East all-star team in 2013 and won the soccer alumni award that same year.
Calof was named the OUA athlete of the week several times and won this year’s Doug Banton award at the Carleton athletic banquet.
Patrick Killeen: Men’s hockey
Killeen may be the most experienced goalie to go through the Carleton hockey program.
His resumé is long, though his most recent accomplishment would be claiming the OUA East goaltender of the year.
He boasted an impressive 12-2 win-loss record as well as a 2.15 goals against average and .922 save percentage in his first season with Carleton.
Matthew Fournier: Rowing
In his fourth year, Matthew Fournier led the Carleton men’s rowing team at the national championships, with a gold medal victory in the lightweight men’s single, defending the title he won in 2013 in Montreal.
At nationals, Fournier was awarded the Canadian University Rowing Association’s outstanding male rower of the year award. Fournier was also awarded the MVP for rowing this year at the 2015 athletic banquet.
Kendra Murray: Nordic skiing
This year was one of Murray’s best, as she had a strong performance at the Canadian College and University Nordic Championships.
At the Carleton athletic banquet, Murray won the MVP for the women’s Nordic ski team and received the most impressive graduating female award.
