Fulbright Canada sets partnership record at Carleton

A new collaboration between Carleton and Fulbright Canada has set a new record for the most Fulbright research chairs established at a single Canadian university. According to Fulbright’s website, it is a not-for-profit organization that works to foster strong relationships between Canadian and American universities through international student exchange programs. Scheduled to start in 2018 and last for 25 years, the creation of four new visiting chair positions will include chairs in entrepreneurship, environmental science, public affairs, and arts and social sciences. UNB fundraises for student financial support

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) announced an ambitious fundraising campaign on Nov. 18 that aims to raise the largest amount of money in the university’s history. Titled “It Begins Here,” the campaign aims to raise $110 million for UNB by April 30, 2018. According to a press release, the university plans to allocate $55 million of its total fundraising goal to financial support for students in the form of bursaries and scholarships. “We’ve been planning this [fundraising campaign] for a number of years,” said Susan Montague, a campaign advisor at UNB’s office of development and donor relations. “We’ve been extremely encouraged and pleased by the response that we’ve had so far.” According to Montague, the university raised over $77 million in […]

Carleton reaches $200 million donations for Collaborate campaign

Carleton has reached $200 million of its $300 million fundraising goal for the Collaborate campaign. The money raised is collected from donors and volunteers that work with Carleton faculty, staff, and leadership to make a gift to a cause or project that means the most to them, according to Ryan Davies, the director of advancement communications at Carleton. Carleton launches $300 million “Collaborate” fundraising campaign

Carleton has officially launched its Collaborate campaign during an event on Nov. 5 in the River Building. The campaign seeks to raise $300 million by the university’s 75th anniversary in 2017. The event was held to allow prospective donors and members of the community to learn more about the kinds of projects and initiatives that would be funded, as well as put them in closer contact with faculty and students. Carleton launches crowdfunding platform

A new crowdfunding website is letting Carleton projects receive funding from anybody with access to a computer and a bank account. The platform Futurefunder was started by Carleton to let university donors have more control over where their money goes, according to Paul Chesser, chief development officer of Carleton’s Department for University Advancement, which oversaw the project. “We’d known for a long time that donors wanted to be more active in choosing the different projects they wanted to support,” Chesser said. “They wanted to actually see the impact of their giving.” The website displays Carleton student, faculty, and researcher projects that need funding.
