From cockroaches to mice: campus restaurants talk pest control

Cockroaches, mice, and flies are all things that people don’t want near their food. But what do campus restaurants do if customers complain about it? Blake Brooks, the manager at Oliver’s Pub & Patio, said there’s a cockroach issue all over campus. “There has been a cockroach issue in all of my 15 years at Carleton, so we’re not going to lie and say there’s no cockroaches spotted,” Brooks said. “It’s up to the customer what they choose to do. Ever wonder how the places on campus received their names? With more than 45 buildings around Carleton, there have probably been moments when you were both hopelessly lost and yet curious about the history behind each structure. Carleton undergoes a lengthy process to determine the names of their buildings. The tradition started with the name of the university itself, and extended to other structures, including shops and services. Since the university’s growth in the early 1960s, Carleton has continued its naming tradition based on the service and type of the building. Mike’s Place gets board games

Mike’s Place has added a wide selection of new board games to its inventory and has started advertising the availability of games to the public this month. “It’s not just about drinking and dining, it’s about socializing. It’s about feeling comfortable,” said George Koneval, manager of Mike’s Place. “Games are fun and add some entertainment.” He said they already have regular customers who come to play board games and with the new selection, he’s hoping to attract more of that clientele.
