Hannah Schmidt is a third-year criminology student and member of the Carleton alpine ski team, who has now found herself as the team captain and the club’s president. Schmidt has taken a long, complicated path to Carleton. Women’s hockey drops two games over weekend

The Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team fell to the Université de Montreal Carabins 6-0 on Nov. 25 and then were defeated by the Concordia Stingers 2-0 on Nov. 26, completing a tough losing weekend. Against the Carabins, the Ravens defence were able to hold off Montreal’s strong offensive pressure allowing no goals in the first period and keeping the score tied at 0-0. Montreal came out with speed in the second period and were able to convert when on the power play. Carabins forward Annie Germain fired the puck past Ravens goaltender Katelyn Steele one minute into the second period. Women’s basketball continues winning streak

The Carleton Ravens women’s basketball team kept their undefeated record with a 66-36 victory over the rival University of Ottawa (U of O) Gee-Gees on Nov. 14. The Ravens are currently in first place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division at 5-0. The team started strong defensively, with Carleton coming out to a 13-2 lead. Nicole Gilmore found Catherine Traer from beyond the arc to open the scoring. Traer also drove for a basket to make it 5-0. Ravens swim team competes in first two meets

This past weekend, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, Carleton’s varsity swim team competed in their first two meets of the season. Over the last couple of years, the team has grown, but Carleton still had the smallest team at both meets. “With several swimmers missing due to reading week, Carleton had ten swimmers at Friday’s meet and nine on Saturday,” said coach Lynn Marshall in an email. “While Carleton didn’t earn many points against much larger teams, there were a lot of commendable performances and great teamwork.” Third-year Tristan Ogilvie and second-year Erin McRae stood out as leaders for the rest of the team, which consists of all rookies.
