Nicole Bayes-Fleming: Op/Ed Editor

Nicole Bayes-Fleming comes from Scarborough, which yes, really is part of Toronto (albeit not the cool part). An aspiring writer since the age of eight, Nicole decided to balance her love for creative writing and her desire to change the world by studying journalism. She’s now in the final year of her degree, with a double minor in French and women’s and gender studies. Nicole began writing for The Charlatan in her first year at Carleton. She spent most of her time as a Charlatan reporter writing for the National section, but Op/Ed has always been where she feels most at home. She is particularly drawn to the Op/Ed section for the way it gives students a chance to have […]

Sima Shakeri: Arts Editor

Sima Shakeri is currently precariously balancing fourth year journalism with arts editing. She manages this by chugging a lot of Coke Zero and iced tea. She’s technically a Toronto gal but she’s bounced from city to city throughout her life, from living in Quebec to Iran. Discovering her love of music as a pre-teen, she came to Carleton determined to gather the skills to become a stellar entertainment journalist. She’s always been drawn to arts, culture, and entertainment, so she made it her goal to become the Charlatan’s arts editor before she graduated, and started to write for the paper in her first year. Somehow she pulled that goal off, and now she’s determined to make this year’s arts section […]

He signed up to join the paper at the booth as part of orientation week, and hours later, he had agreed to cover the men’s soccer games that weekend. Cameron spent most weekends throughout his first year at Carleton at the Ice House, watching games […]

Christophe Young: Graphics Editor

Born and raised in the family friendly suburbs of Ottawa, I spent most of my days fiddling with music, playing sports, or drawing my days away. Thankfully, I quickly excelled in the arts and my talents landed me a spot in Carleton where I’m currently struggling through my 3rd year in Architectural Studies. Wanna volunteer, share some art, or just chat? You can most often find me in Studio on the 4th floor of the architecture building around the clock haha, but if you can’t find me there, dont hesitate to shoot me an email!
